Blue Öyster Cult really did know what they were talking about when they famously wrote and sang (Don’t Fear) The Reaper.

When people see the Death card in a tarot reading, their first reaction is fear. But, did you know that the Death card isn't about endings in the grim sense, it's actually about transformation, release, and rebirth.

The Death card invites you to let go of what no longer serves you, maybe even versions of ourselves that no longer exist. Clearing space for growth and renewal. It reminds us that change, while challenging, is the only constant and often the trigger for profound personal change.

Why was 2024 a year of transformation?

Pluto moved into Aquarius (where it will remain for almost 21 years). This huge cosmic shift urged many of us to redefine structures, embrace authenticity, and break free from outdated patterns.

This planetary move is rare, and sparked societal transformation, encouraging innovation and collective awakening, but it also encouraged personal changes. This meant that many found themselves stepping into new roles, releasing old identities, or finding clarity after a period of uncertainty.

How tarot helps us navigate change

Tarot serves as a powerful tool during many times, including during transformative times. Offering guidance and reflection when the path ahead feels unclear. It provides insights into the "why" behind life’s challenges and illuminates the lessons we’re meant to learn.

The Death card encourages us to trust the process, even when it feels like the ground is shifting beneath us. This year, I’ve seen countless readings focused on themes of transition and rebirth, as individuals sought clarity on their journeys through endings and beginnings.

2024: Transformation for Tarot & Tea Yorkshire

This year of change wasn’t just a collective experience, it was deeply personal too. For me, 2024 marked a pivotal transformation. I transitioned from full-time employment through a challenging period of uncertainty, ultimately launching not one, but two businesses: Tarot & Tea Yorkshire and my marketing consultancy.

Since September, Tarot & Tea Yorkshire has been a whirlwind of growth and connection. In just four months, I’ve delivered over 80 readings, attended standout festivals and stalls, and brought magic to birthdays and individual sessions alike. Through these experiences, I’ve witnessed firsthand how tarot can offer clarity, comfort, and direction during life’s most uncertain times. It’s been an honour to guide others as they navigated their own transformations this year.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As the new year approaches, I’m grateful for the lessons 2024 brought and excited to continue supporting others through Tarot & Tea Yorkshire.
